From the Kitchen of Chef Colleen
“Mom, you should cook at a recovery center. You have the talent to make people feel loved through your cooking. People who struggle with addiction and those in recovery need that.”
— Matthew Brandon, my son
At Haven at Blue Creek, food is more than a meal. It’s part of the healing. It’s structure, safety, nourishment, and love, served on a plate.
Our women arrive depleted—physically, emotionally, spiritually. Nutrition becomes a way to say: You matter. Your body matters. Healing includes this too.
🥑 Savory Avocado Toast
This toast is designed to support recovery from the inside out. It’s simple, colorful, and packed with everything the body and brain need:
Whole grains for sustained energy and fiber
Avocado for healthy fats that support hormone balance and brain repair
Eggs for complete protein and amino acids essential to rebuilding
Fresh cucumbers and tomatoes for hydration, antioxidants, and crunch
Finished with herbs from our garden and eggs from our own hens, this toast is both grounding and uplifting.
🍓 Summer Berry Toast
Recovery isn’t just about survival—it’s about delight. This sweet toast reminds us that life can be full, rich, and beautiful again.
Blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries for antioxidants and cellular healing
Fresh mint for brightness and digestion
A touch of cream cheese for comfort and creaminess
Every bite is colorful, nutrient-dense, and intentionally made to bring a moment of sweetness to the journey.
Why It Matters
At Haven, we believe in healing every part of a woman’s life. That includes her relationship with food, with her body, and with the experience of being cared for.
We feed the women here with dignity, intention, and love, because they deserve that. Every day.
My goal is that each woman leaves stronger than she came. Not just clean and sober, but nourished. Inside and out.
With love,
